Our church exists because loving God and loving your neighbor is more than just a good idea.
Everyone needs a neighbor like Jesus.
A beatitude is not a performative trait. They are not ethics to be mastered by the flesh. Nor are they merely manors of conduct that attract benefit from on high. Liquidating your assets as a means of becoming like Christ is missing the point. That way of living disregards the spiritual nature of the beatitudes and regards them primarily as acts of the flesh. They’re not Jesus’ list of “to-do’s.” They’re his list of “to-be’s.” They’re his vision for a way of being that is anchored in the blessedness of God’s presence and kingdom rule in our lives. The Beatitudes are the unique features that play a **vital role in our spiritual lives and the flourishing that we experience as citizens of God’s spiritual kingdom. They’re the riverbeds in which the living water flows from God’s Holy Spirit without end through our entire being and into the lives of others. Join us each week as we discover more about Jesus’ vision for his followers and what being anchored in God’s presence means as the kingdom of God permeates our lives.
